Language and Citizenship Exams

Most applicants must pass two exams administered by the Cervantes Institute. The DELE A2 exam tests your ability to read, write, speak and understand basic Spanish. The CCSE exam assesses your knowledge of the Spanish Constitution, government, history, culture and society.

The CCSE exam consists of 25 multiple‑choice questions and you need to score at least 60% to pass. Both exams can be taken at accredited centres around the world. Certain applicants—such as graduates from Spanish schools or nationals of some Latin American countries—may be exempt from the language requirement.
