Application Process
Verify your eligibility and then file Form N‑400. Gather supporting documents such as a copy of your green card, marriage certificate (if applicable), tax records and any required military or Selective Service documentation.
Pay the fee when you file. As of April 2024 the total cost is $710 if you apply online and $760 if you apply by mail; both amounts include the biometrics fee. Low‑income applicants may request a fee waiver.
After submitting your application you will be scheduled for a biometrics appointment, then for an interview and tests. Once your application is approved you attend a naturalisation ceremony to take the Oath of Allegiance and receive your certificate.
