Application Process
Once you confirm your eligibility, start by using the physical presence calculator to ensure you meet the 1,095‑day requirement. Prepare form CIT 0002 and gather your documents: permanent resident card, identification, passport copies, language proof and tax records. Each family member must complete a separate form.
Pay the fees: as of March 2025 the citizenship rights fee increased to $119.75, bringing the total adult cost to $649.75 (a $530 processing fee plus $119.75). Minors pay only a $100 processing fee. You can submit your application online or by mail and may need to provide fingerprints or other biometrics. After submission you will be invited to take the test and attend an interview. If approved you will receive an invitation to a citizenship ceremony. Average processing times are around eight months.
